Five for Friday Spring Break Style!

It's (past) time for Five for Friday!

Thank you Kacey at Doodle Bugs Teaching for being such a wonderful host of this weekly linky party!!

I admit when it's time for Five for Friday, I whip out my iphone to see what random pics I snapped during the week. This past week was Spring Break, so these will be non-school related
(you've been warned!).

The above pic was our ride to the airport at 5:30 am Monday morning. For. Real. And this is before we got on the highway.

But it's okay, because we were headed to Florida and would be soaking up the sun by 10:30 am. So we thought. We boarded the flight at 7:30 and at 10:30 we were still sitting on the runway!! As a somewhat-claustrophobic person, it wasn't my idea of fun. I have to say though that the pilot was the BEST, BEST, BEST pilot I've ever had! He kept it light and as fun as one could in that situation. He got on the intercom no less than 15 times to keep us updated. Everyone applauded when we finally took off and then again when we landed. I dashed off an email to AirTran to let them know how awesome he was!

We actually didn't need to worry about missing any warm beach weather, because we brought the cold weather with us! It dropped from 80 degrees to 60 the day we arrived :( The temperature refused to budge until we departed on Thursday! I wasn't all that prepared and had to wear the same capris & hoodie everyday. And this city girl was determined to get some fresh ocean air, so I bundled up and took long walks along the water. It was windy and CHILLY, but I still managed to get a sunburn on my only exposed parts: my face and ankles! I actually think it's windburn.

It was still a very lovely getaway!
I was all relaxed on the way home and snapped this picture as we began to descend back to Baltimore and reality. I think I'm going to make it my wallpaper on my phone until my next vacation!

It doesn't get more random than this!
I always pack my lunches because I like to eat as healthy as possible (minus the weekends, still working on that!). Previously I would cook up big batches of chicken (crockpot, roasted, grilled, you-name-it) and make a salad. But now that I'm trying to get healthy with my salad dressings & only really like the non-healthy ones (boo!), I've made the switch to vegetables. I can definitely say that I'm not guilty of overeating veggies!

I did learn this quick trick that has made healthy eating even easier. After cooking up the chicken, I divide it into containers and toss on some frozen veggies (no need to thaw them). Optional: add a spoonful of salsa or sprinkle on some parmesan cheese. Pop the top on and toss in the freezer. Now I just need to grab 1 or 2 on my way out the door. Easy to clean up, too!

To my friends who celebrate, I wish you a very Happy Easter!
The adorable bunny & numbers are from one of my faves:

(Check out her blog - she's organized the TPT sellers having a holiday sale!)

Have a super Saturday!

  1. Yum! Your lunch looks good! I try to make out my lunches for the week too. It makes it so much easier to get out of the house on time in the morning!
