What a fun idea for a linky!
Latoya from Flying Into First Grade is hosting this linky to help us get to know each other. All bloggers share three things about themselves using their initials. Bummer that mine are J.K.D.! I would have much preferred C for coffee or F for fun fonts!
So here goes...
I'm not that into jewelry and I feel like I've mentioned jogging (running) a lot already. So, jeans it is! How many pairs are too many? 16? That's how many I have right now. My all-time favorites are my True Religion pair, followed by Red Engine, Seven, and Lucky. Those are all boot-cut though, so I've been wearing skinny jeans from White House Black Market this winter to go with those cute high boots everybody's wearing. I actually don't reach for jeans except for going out in the evenings. Usually I go straight from work outfits to workout clothes (or pj's).
I can explain this one! I do like kittens, although I don't have any pets. But this choice has a story behind it. When my students were learning the Long U spelled with Silent E, one of the cards was the word "cute" and I told my small group: "Because I couldn't fit all of your pictures on this card, I had to chose this one"
All of my students were probably like "whatever, Ms. D" except one little girl. She has been talking about this kitten EVERY DAY since then. It's been a couple months now! She told me she will buy the kitten for me, that she has already bought the kitten for me and named it Charlene (what?!), and once asked me if the kitten was in my office! Her family probably thinks her teacher is a crazy cat lady - not that there's anything wrong with that :)
D is for my hometown Dayton, Ohio.
All of my immediate family still lives within 5 miles of my childhood home in a south suburb of Dayton. It is a very small, planned "city." It's. Very. Quiet. I moved away about 20 years ago, but still try to visit once a year. I'm thankful my retired parents live in a safe place where there's small-town charm and they don't have to lock their doors (but I hope they remember to!).
The school I work at names their classrooms by colleges/universities. I don't have a classroom, so I named my Power Hour reading intervention group after University of Dayton. We are the Dayton Flyers who never give up! What's great is that I co-teach in a classroom named for Xavier University, one of UD's rivals. It's a small world!
Please visit Latoya's linky party & check out her blog, as well! It's terrific & she just posted about these awesome freebie math mini-books!
See you there!
