Everyone needs a little privacy, especially 1st graders :)
At my school, classroom teachers use these wonderful sturdy blue study carrels (corrals?) when students are taking interim assessments. Students love having their own space & there are always some "peekers" in the group who are curious to what other students are writing.
As a traveling special educator, it feels like 50% of my classroom time is spent assessing. I may be in the general education classroom, Spanish enrichment (those assessments are tough!), etc. I didn't receive any study folders, so I had to improvise & make my own!
Basically, it's just 2 file folders stapled together. I struggled with the duct tape, but perservered. It's there for added decor & to cover the staples (but not actually holding the folders together). The motivational pictures are laminated and simply glued on.
I wanted the motivational slogans because some of my students don't love tests - can you imagine that?! I'm also usually pulling the same students out for testing because of accommodations & I don't want them to feel self-conscious. I chose the basic school-themed graphics to be engaging, yet not as distracting as SpongeBob or Batman :)
I made a ton of these & keep a testing kit (folders, sharpened chubby pencils, timer, & tissues) in my office ready to go at a moment's notice. Somehow I printed more pictures than I had file folders, so I also plan on posting them in the intervention room.
(folders & zebra tape not included!)
Those are adorable...love the added cuteness of the duct tape. I think I need them. :o)
