Technology Tip Tuesday & Flash Sale

It's Technology Tuesday sponsored by Blog Hoppin!

I'm actually writing this on Monday evening. Today was the first day back for students, so this post will be short & sweet :)

Technology is challenging for my position! I'm often on the go & don't utilize technology as much as I probably could.

Our classroom teachers use promethean boards for interactive flipcharts, Brainpop, and/or youtube videos. I've occasionally used a powerpoint presentation, especially as a "hook" to introduce a lesson or concept. If I do this, it is with a small group using my laptop.

Here's another technology tool my students LOVE:

Has anyone else ever used Hot Dots?
I have the entire set for Grades K-2 skills and use them for Brain Breaks, quick warm-ups, and standardized test practice. I usually don't bring them out until spring when routines have been established and I feel students can use them appropriately as a learning tool (versus just pressing buttons to see the lights!). I do recommend using cards slightly below level to introduce the process. It gives my students instant positive feedback while also learning how to use the materials. Using different levels also allows a wonderful opportunity for differentiation!

In addition to the premade cards, I bought the packs of "hot & cold" dot-stickers to create my own cards. I love this idea because I can customize the skills, plus laminate the cards. The purchased sets are colorful and contain great content, yet can't be laminated.

As I'm wrapping this up, I definitely realize that I need to find more innovative ways of using technology in my teaching. I will be checking back with this linky party to learn more!
Have a terrific Tuesday!
