Five for Friday!

It's time for Five for Friday!
Hosted by Kacey at Doodle Bugs Teaching.

5. It was our first week back after the most wonderful Spring Break. Some of us were having trouble adjusting back to the schedule:

I love how the other students all moved to another carpet spot to accommodate this sleeping beauty! BTW, we did repeatedly try to wake him up. He was NOT having it.

4. This week I had the opportunity to co-present to a grad school class. It was NOT a big deal, but I couldn't resist because it was at my alma mater (coincidence). I snapped this pic because it felt surreal as I easily parked in a garage that I had driven LAPS in searching for a student permit spot only a mere few years ago!

3. Our week-long state assessments are in two weeks for our 1st and 2nd graders.

One of our teachers is coordinating the preparation and proctoring & also including pumped-up activities to get the students excited. The week before the test we have themed dress-down days:

Monday - Hittin' a Homerun (wear Baltimore O's baseball gear)
Tuesday - Keeping Our Eyes on SAT-10 (wear crazy glasses)
Wednesday - Thinking Caps (wear a hat)
Thursday - Exercise Your Brain (exercise gear - my fave!!)
Friday - Rest Your Brain (p.j.'s)

We also have a pep rally on Friday. We work very hard to make this developmentally-inappropriate test the most positive experience we can for these little ones!

2. I admit I'm VERY LATE to the mustache-craze and have been holding onto this adorable set since the day they came out:

"I Mustache You!" Clipart

Now that the school year is winding down, my students are just now able to handle these awesome 'staches!! I will be posting more about our fun soon!

So with mustaches on my brain, I couldn't believe I saw this when walking in my neighborhood:

Hahahaha! That is just AWESOME!
This cat was sitting in the window & posed for this photo :)

1. The other project I'm working on is our annual Author Study Family Night. My grade-level team is celebrating Kevin Henkes. We will be display his books, present an informational PowerPoint, have a read-aloud, and offer a handout of coordinating activities. Here's a sample of the handout:

Have a super weekend!
