Summer Bucket List Linky!

How many days do you have until summer break?

Our last day is June 13th. That means 10 more school days with students and then a couple days that staff report. Once our closing checklist is checked off, we are free to go on June 13th!

My summer break is short & sweet...we report back July 24th! So, I need to get organized BEFORE break starts so I can get everything on my list accomplished!

(WARNING: I'm 100% Type A & this list def reflects it!)

My theme for school organizing is SIMPLIFY.

I'm 99% sure I will be returning to 1st grade next year, which will be my third year in a row with the curriculum! Plus, I'll be with the same coteachers ♥ !! I'm really excited about this! I feel very comfortable with the two general education teachers I "push" into. We have great communication and trust...most days we are able to read each others' minds :)

I will be getting a new officemate...a special educator who will be new to our school. I don't know who it is yet & probably won't know until we move into our shared space.
Yes, that makes me slightly nervous.

I desperately need to redo my office. I'm on the list to have it painted & repaired. It's currently bright red, green, and yellow with missing ceiling tiles! I'm hoping for a neutral color when we return in July. I'm also looking at all new shelving, storage bins, and desk accessories to make my work environment more inviting. I'm almost sold on purchasing a Silhouette to help me with this project!

I'm also simplifying my teaching materials. I've quite possibly bought EVERYTHING offered on TPT over the past 2 years. There have been certain items I reached for over & over this past year. I want to make sure I have those items organized and CC-aligned, so I can focus more on my students than materials next year!

My school storage at home also needs a complete do-over.
I'll be taking "before" pictures as soon as school lets out!

P.L. = Positively Learning

My reluctantly-started blog ("what will I ever write about?") turned into my BFF this past year. I started it at the same time I joined TPT (Nov 2011). I have major ideas on revamping my blog, including becoming more "service-oriented" by offering more helpful resources (those I find & my own) and, of course, more organized. My freebies are loaded onto Scribd, which has been causing a minor uproar with some subscribers. I'd like to go back and reupload all my freebies to Google docs this summer, plus add more!

I also need to refine my store...combining items into bundles, forever-deleting some hodge-podge products, and filling in gaps (i.e.: phonics skills). My store has always been focused on my own students' needs & it's almost complete with the materials I use with my firsties. After that, I will continue to do product make-overs and more connecting with teacher bloggers!

My poor neglected home!

I ♥ my house, but it doesn't look like I do! There's dust everywhere and I barely recognize my kitchen (for lack of use). I'm all about decluttering and making my house run smoothly. This summer, I will be purging EVERYTHING that I haven't used in a year. This will probably only take about three days to do, but will make a world of difference.

We have also come to the conclusion that we need a house cleaning service. It pains me to have someone else in my house cleaning when I'm capable of it, but the truth is I'm just not home long enough to clean! And the cobwebs are just stressing me out! I received a good recommendation and will be trying it out before the summer ends, so we can start on a regular cleaning schedule when school starts. I'm going to try my best to not chicken out!

My other summer bucket list items include two more weddings (one at the beach & one in Washington, DC), a family visit to Ohio, and a conference in Las Vegas!

And a grad class I still haven't registered for :(

It's going to be an exciting summer! Can't wait!
