WBT: Smarties Scoreboard Freebie

Happy Sunday!
Just dropping in between summer road trips...

Is anyone else reading and enjoying

This book is seriously amazing and a major game-changer for teaching! I'm reading it with a highlighter and will have to consider another method of remembering ALL the good info because soon the ENTIRE book will be neon yellow! It's that good!

What I'm really loving about it is that it's not that different than what I've been using...it's just more concise with concrete examples, plus the rationale for why it works. Love, love, love!

I've successfully used the scoreboard in the past, but it wasn't that consistent in WHY a point was earned on either side. After reading all the different types of scoreboards and their benefits, I feel much more prepared to implement this motivational tool.

I created a few themed scoreboards to use with my firsties:

I may have gotten a little carried away...

I had fun adding some graphics I knew they'd enjoy. Time will tell which one will become a fave...or if I move on up to the Super Student Improvement (Level 2, a definite possibility).

If you're implementing WBT this year or interested in learning more, please leave a comment. To download the 12 scoreboards I created, click here!

Enjoy the weekend!

  2. LOVE THESE!!! I was wanting to redo my hasty not exciting score board. We changed our words for Class/Yes to reflect the season or special occasion. But I did not think of my scoreboard!!

  4. Hi, thanks for your comment!
WBT is Whole Brain Teaching - an incredible FREE resource online. The scoreboard is a fast & engaging way to positively reinforce expectations. It's basically "teacher vs. students" with tally marks on either side based on observation. I highly recommend checking out WBT - especially this time of year when spring fever is kicking in :)

  5. These are great and will be wonderful for my third graders. Thank you! I have done VERY LITTLE with WBT but these scoreboards will encourage me to get more involved.
