Classroom Digs: With a Twist & a Freebie!

Day Two is in the books!

Another positive, energy-filled day! It's also Day 2 of Teacher Week over at Blog Hoppin' and I'm linking up for "Classroom Digs."

My "Classroom Digs" tour has a twist because as a special educator (1st grade inclusion), I don't have a classroom!

Every school year I etch out a bit more space, but it can change at any time based on students' needs.  I "push in" (inclusion) with two general education classrooms. Luckily, this year they are side-by-side each other. One year, the classrooms were on different floors!

I set up a corner in both classrooms (my co-teachers are amazing and generous!) and they are both identical with the following items:

1 student table and 5 student chairs/1 teacher (that's me) chair
I cart and 1 box filled with duplicate items I constantly reach for: highlighters, erasers, chubby pencils, testing folders, primary writing paper, hand sanitizer, dry erase boards and markers, magnet board (yup, I bought matching sets), magnet letters, pointers, sight words flashcards, monster fingers, stickers,
sticky notes, crayons, etc!

Here's what the corner looks like:

Extremely simple setup with everyday items.

Then I pack a weekly box that travels between the rooms:

If you're making extra good choices or it's your birthday, you may earn the privilege of carrying my box for me! It works for 6 year-olds, but not exactly what I'd like for my birthday.

This box has content-specific materials for the week and anything else I can't afford to purchase/print & laminate twice for both classrooms.

If I'm pulling an intervention group (this is decided later in the fall) and/or small-group testing, we have an empty classroom or just use my office. I recently shared pictures of my new & improved office organization and here's another picture of my work area:

The empty spots will soon be filled with student work :)

The freebie is an one-page Bloom's "Cheat Sheet" because we are really focusing on HOTS (another freebie!) this year school-wide.  Below is a closer look - click here to download!

Please link back to see other teachers' classrooms!

Have a wonderful Tuesday!
