Interactive BB & Glimmer!

Happy Tuesday!

Hope you had a fabulous teaching day!

This school year I've been focusing on celebrating student work. I'm a special educator, so I have an office and intervention space, but no classroom. Outside my office door is a teeny-tiny bulletin board...not big enough to display 25 treasures, but perfect for a handful of hard work!

Our school's requirements are to change the work every 3-4 weeks and post the standard/objective. We also have the background paper and borders reflect the school colors.
Everything else is fair game!

For "Take Me Back Tuesday," here's what we did in September, October, and November. My students got a kick out of these and so did the parents during conference week.

This month I wanted to add an interactive element to our display and created this:

(the scrapbook paper is actually a nice colonial blue!)

I put two large sorting mugs on each side of the standard:

There's also a bag of "marshmallows" with additional picture cards, tape, and the directions:

My students are walking by and sorting the marshmallows by long and short vowel sounds. It's a fun way to check for understanding with phonemic awareness before we tackle the long vowel spelling patterns in phonics. After my students finish sorting (40 cards altogether!), we are going to put them back in the bag and ask other classrooms to sort them. My "Vowel Experts" will be visiting the bulletin board to check their work!

The entire set, plus many more wintery activities are available in my latest "Frozen" pack:

Have you ever tried an interactive bulletin board at your school?
I'd love to hear your ideas!

Before I sign off, here's a small "glimmer" from my day:
