Naughty Elf and Sleepy Chicken!

Our elf, Justin Bieber, was on probation after this happened on Wednesday:

I cannot believe I didn't get phone calls after this! 

My students were talking about the tp-mayhem ALL day. 

Luckily, when we arrived at Power Hour today (I teach in an intervention room), we found this:

J-Beebs had brought us an awesome game to help us with our sight words! This game (such cute graphics!) is a fabulous freebie from Cara Carroll. Thanks Cara so much for brightening my students' day!

JB was holding the directions which I (ad-lib) read to the group. 

It was a great opener to our lesson!

Our Power Hour is similar to Guided Reading. As a school, we also follow a scope and sequence for comprehension, so regardless of the level, we select books that lend themselves to the skill. This week was Main Idea. Justin helped us with this "hook" activity:

Inspired by our elf at school, we have a holiday chicken at home helping us count down the workdays until vacation! He doesn't have a name yet, but here's what he's been up to:
