Happy Saturday!
Hope you're having a fabulous fall weekend!
I'm continuing to plug along with Whole 30 and feeling better than ever! I can't do the program justice, but the basic concept is that you're eating whole foods (proteins from mostly animal sources, fruit, and tons of veggies) and avoiding anything processed. I was previously eating like that anyway, but the big changes I've made over the past few weeks was eliminating dairy and my beloved protein shakes. It's only for 30 days and then you can add in those foods again, if you want. While I can't say I'm loving black coffee, it's almost become a non-issue since my energy level has sky-rocketed and I've reduced my intake from one pot (no joke) to one cup of coffee daily! The rest of the eating has been mostly easy and the best news is that I feel like I'm eating MORE than ever. There's no calorie counting and it's not a weight loss plan, yet I'm happy to report that I've shed most of those dreaded last 10 pounds.
Here's proof:
I'm on the left. I notice the biggest difference in my legs :)
I don't know who I'm holding hands with, I'll have to check with my student. He's looking pretty fit...maybe he's doing Whole 30, too!
Power Hour starts this Monday! Power Hour is our school's reading intervention block that ALL students participate in. It's similar to Guided Reading...you can read more about it here.
We finished F & P and grouped our students. Last year, I spent time with Levels D-G. This year?
AA and A!!!!!
YIKES! I have 12 little firsties who I'll be meeting with for four mornings every week to GROW our brains! Those poor students aren't going to know what hit them! The past two weeks have been a blur of researching, printing, and laminating getting ready for these cuties. I'm super-excited about the resources I've both discovered and created. It's been like Christmas around here!
My students will be participating in a mini Shared Reading activity with coordinating centers (thanks Deedee Wills!) and Guided Reading using Reading A-Z. Stay tuned for more information...I'll be providing updates and sharing their successes!
Last year, I created several freebie Guided Reading files to coordinate with Reading A-Z. This year, I'm doing it again...but with Level A. Click here to pick up this mini-pack!
Please click on the label "Guided Reading" on the right find even more freebies and more information. Also, be sure to follow my blog...I'm making a freebie pack for every single week!

I have a very low group of first graders that are reading at an AA (or lower) as well. Keep posting those lessons. They are awesome. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteHI Angie! I understand about the "lower" than AA. I have found so many things I'll be trying out with my first graders daily and will report back what works. We've got this! Good luck and thanks for commenting! Jen
ReplyDeleteLove the illustration your student made for you! Keep up the good work.
