T.B.T: Football Freebie!

We finally returned to school today with a 2-hour delay!
And I have to admit it, it was time.

Although I participate in all snow day rituals and I think I would love to work at home...now I'm really not sure it's the life for me :(

It starts off great with a few days to catch up (paperwork!) and create (TPT!), but then you reach a tipping point. This is when you shower just to put on a clean pair of pjs. No makeup touches my face. I use my "cheap" toiletries (the travel kind) because I don't want to waste good product since I'm most likely not leaving my house. Or even my office. I accomplish a lot, but not as much as I do when I work 12+ hours a day.  And I also noticed I'm actually happier when I soooo busy, kind of like an adrenaline rush. I think it's the sense of purpose. Or maybe I'm just being reflective because I'm caught up on sleep. Anyway, I'm blogging about this as evidence for the next time I want to use the excuse "I'm too busy!"

It's Thursday, so it's time for Throwback Thursday with one of my favorite freebies! It's very obvious that it was from LAST January. The Ravens didn't have such a great season this year! Enjoy!

Are You Ready for a Football Freebie?

Are you ready for the BIG game??

I live in Baltimore City which is literally bathed in purple with purple lights, banners, & signs. It's still dark when I leave my house in the morning and it looks so cool to see the downtown purple!

I'm not originally from Maryland, so I was a slow convert to the Ravens (Go Bengals!). But now that I've been here a few years, I've had to branch out my wardrobe to incorporate Purple Fridays:

This is only half of it!
As you can imagine, our students are beyond excited! I definitely don't want to miss the opportunity to capitalize on encourage their enthusiasm! I feel as though I could teach them calculus this week if there's a purple football graphic on it! Here's what we've been using as a warm-up during this week's Guided Reading:

Students select a text card, read the word. and sort by long or short vowel. I've been a bit surprised that a few of my little guys have struggled with this. I'm SO glad we're practicing it. As they toss the card in the cup, I always ask "How did you know?" and that's provided very "interesting" answers, as well!

Click HERE to pick up your copy of the football players and text cards.

Don't worry 49ers fans, you're well-represented, too!

The frames were a freebie from the talented Ashley Hughes! My students love them & they were exactly what I was looking for (who doesn't love chevron?). And if you haven't noticed yet, please glance to the right side & check out my new avatar designed by Ashley! She was fun & super-sweet to work with and I love the results :)

  1. I agree! I was like that over winter break...showering to put on PJ's. It is nice at first, but then gets old. Although we haven't had a snow day and I'm already hoping for one tomorrow. But, you're right, I get a lot more done in a day of work than a day at home too.

  2. This is great! I live two hours south of Baltimore, and I definitely understand your pain with staying home for so long! I was ready to get back too :) Thank you for this adorable freebie!
