Hope you are enjoying a wonderful holiday with family and friends :) December is a big travel month, so we enjoyed a quiet Thanksgiving:
I have a big to-do list brewing for this long weekend!
I have six credits of classes to complete for my certification renewal in spring. I already have access to the classes and decided this was going to be THE weekend to tackle them. As of today, I've already completed one! It took me 2 full days to speed-read through three text books, write up 3 modules, and a final paper. Whew! Luckily the topic was Special Education which I'm a tad obsessed with ;)
The syllabus for my second course is sitting here right in front of me. It also has 3 textbooks, FIVE modules, and a final paper. The topic is Differentiated Instruction, which also happens to be my lifeline at work!
I'm taking both courses through Advancement Courses. Maryland State Department of Education approved both courses for my certification renewal (I got it in writing!). So far, the experience has been very good! The coursework arrived quickly and looks rigorous, but reasonable. I'm taking six credits with six textbooks and the entire cost was around $750.
The renewal process includes submitting the transcripts for 6 credits, showing evidence of teacher performance evaluations, and a few more things I can't think of right now.
