5 for Friday: Resolutions!

Happy Friday!

I'm so happy Kacey's wonderful linky party is back!

Thank goodness for linky parties...otherwise I may have had to resort to scrolling through my camera pics for a topic. There's NOTHING going on here, which is very unusual and VERY welcome!

Here's the randomness that I did find:

Who needs a selfie on a stick?!?

I don't do selfies. I try not to do pictures in general!
But this smile is a big deal because I actually can smile now. After several painful days following two lengthy dentist visits, today I was able to fully smile without pain or looking sarcastic ;)
I truly have the world's best dentist who takes good care of me!

I'm slowly updating all my phonics resources and matching them up to create one HUGE mix and match. I've come to the point in my Type A life where I need everything in order. It makes me so happy to have my resources all coordinated to meet every students' need! The updates are requiring me to reprint and relaminate everything. It should only take me about 1-2 years, lol.

Most of the content is staying the same with changes only made to be more aligned. I am updating fonts and graphics, like in my Short O Activity packet. The Mr. saw this pic and said "That's SO much better!" and he was referring to the old cover on the left :(

I've also been busy preparing for my two new blogposts over at Ellison Education! Please hop over and check it out! Today's post is by the fabulous Mr. Greg of Kindergarten Smorgasboard (♥).

These cuties were my holiday gifts to my co-teachers!
I had so much making them :)

What did I do over my winter break?
I watched almost every episode of Shark Tank. I'm dying to be on the show, although I'm sure I'd cry if they didn't like my idea (which I don't have yet, but I'm working on it). I literally watch this show with my iphone and then google for updates on each company. It's turning into an obsession.

That's all I have on my camera, so now I'm linking up with
Erica's Ed-ventures to share my (non) resolutions :)

Hmmm...I didn't think to make any goals for my finances. I am starting to think about investments since I'm retiring in 17 short years! We are seriously tossing around the idea of buying vacation property (like postage stamp size) in Florida. The homes we are looking at cost about HALF of our home here in the city.

I seem to be spending more time thinking about what I need to purchase rather than save. I think after recovering from my dental bills, I'm going to look into Lasik this summer. I've never been tempted to have Lasik before because I actually like my glasses. However, my last glasses/contacts appointment went a little awry and I honestly can't even see anymore! I feel like I took someone else's prescription home :(  And when  I think about how much I spend on glasses and contacts, I think Lasik would help me save money. Thus, my resolution is to have Lasik eye surgery.

This makes me a little sad...at this time last year, I received the exciting news that I was presenting at the KIPP School Summit. I also became a Teacher Development Leader last spring and was having a BLAST teaching.

This year, I'm hoping to survive in one piece! LOVE my students, but oh my goodness...it's been challenging. Survival with no major catastrophes (keeping school suspensions at a minimum, no psychological scarring, etc.) sounds like a realistic resolution.

Since I've had a really interesting school year so far, I decided I needed to do something for myself. My Type A also lends itself to my health...I enjoy my workouts and follow Whole 30 pretty religiously. But the stress of this year has brought on insomnia and I've been feeling pretty low. So, I was looking for a boost and decided to sign up with Curls and Whey! I was put on a waiting list in the fall and then got the magic email ("You're in!") at the beginning of December! Woohoo!

It's very different than what I'm used to and I'm still adjusting, so I'll wait a few more weeks before reporting on how it's going.

What are your resolutions for 2015?

Have a wonderful weekend!

Jen

  1. I completely love Shark Tank too! I would love to get just *one* good idea to pitch to them! And Florida is an excellent choice for a second home (says the girl who might be a tad biased since she lives there). :)
