I was wondering if you could explain the onset and rime section. I love the kit but I don't understand the picture cards in this section. They don't match the pictures listed in your example. Also, is the picture of the golfer the word golfer?

ReplyDeleteYes, the picture is "golf" or "golfer" with the students identifying /g/ as the initial sound. Thank you for letting me know about the onset and rime example page! I just reloaded the example page with matching/updated graphics (it can take the website up to a hour to process it).
The test we administer doesn't use visuals for the onset and rimes practice, but I start off (scaffolding) with them during small group instruction. The task is: "Listen to my sounds: /g/.../um/. What is the word?" Hopefully, your students will answer "gum." :)
