Wordless Wednesday!

Happy Wednesday!

I'm linking up with Miss DeCarbo for

Thank you Christa for hosting!

For longtime readers here, you may recall my somber posts from the first half of the year describing the challenges my students and I were facing...like sitting in chairs safely, using kind hands, tracking the speaker...

I'm THRILLED to report that we are really making progress!

Falling out of chairs is pretty much a distant memory. Our hands are much kinder than before and with just a few extra reminders, I have most eyes following the speaker :)

I'm very proud and looking for success where I can find it!
In future posts, I will be bragging about all the academic growth my little rockstars have made, too :)

During the holidays, I couldn't even fathom having a little elf cause any more trouble than we were already experiencing.
A little guy distracting my friends?!? No thanks!

So it may surprise you (and it certainly surprised me),
that I decided to incorporate:

Yup. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense, right?

It was actually a mistake.

This week, I'm using my Shamrock Sentence Builders
set with our  sensory bin:

Next, we read a few pages of The Naughty Leprechaun together on Monday. I thought it was an engaging book that would introduce some of the holiday vocabulary. I didn't introduce "the coin" or plant any ideas that Liam and Lleyand would be visiting us.
It was only an innocent read-aloud.

But then the next day, a student, who has often been very reluctant to participate, asked ALL about it. This is a child who has had to be gently prodded to sit with the group/pay attention/complete work, so I was pretty psyched! And I will never miss a teachable moment,
soooo...

We have twin leprechauns now!

#prayerswelcome

I'll keep you posted on the mayhem that will surely ensue!

Quick Update #1

If you are a related service provider and/or special educator,
please be on the lookout for an email or inbox message
(at FB or TPT) from me!
I promise it's not spam :)

Quick Update #2
I totally forgot about No Worksheet Wednesday!
Thanks Primary Chalkboard for this wonderful linky:

As a sped-ucator who often works with firsties who are not bonded with pencil and paper tasks, this linky was made for me!

I love a routine, and this throwback (of a throwback) will definitely confirm that fact...because if it works, it works! Right?

Check out this post from last March...we are using the Shamrock Sentence Builders that I featured earlier:

Happy Throwback Thursday!

I've always loved creating materials for my students

I taught piano and early childhood music (Kindermusik, Musikgarten) before switching to Special Education a few years ago. It is SO rewarding to custom design materials and then see them in action! You can literally observe the a-ha moment when working with students. It was always a pleasure creating music materials, and now I enjoy making materials for Special Education 1st Grade Inclusion (the ideal platform for customizing student work!).

The past few weeks have been no exception. I've especially enjoyed bringing back previous "hits" - favorite blasts from the pasts that I'm using with this year's caseload of students.

Have a super week! Jen
