Thank you Kacey for hosting every week!
This week, we continued all of our diagnostic assessments for literacy (so many!), but had the opportunity to really dig into math. We use Eureka Math (Engage NY) 1st Grade with 99.9% fidelity...anyone else? It's outstanding, but t-o-u-g-h!!!
This is my 3rd year with the curriculum and I'm having more
"a-ha" moments than ever. Today we wrapped up Unit (Module) One, Lesson 8.
I pull a small group of six students (5 with academic services in math and 1 for intervention) during this block and created our own "Guided Math" rotation. Next week, the general educator and I are trying to assemble a rotation for the all 26 students. We are thisclose to figuring it out and I'm so excited about the possibilities!
Right now, it looks like this :)
Quite a hot mess, but it's WORKING!
This picture was taken on Wednesday. We had just wrapped up Concept Development and our Problem Set...differentiated six ways at the same time! I looked at the small group table and just had to laugh - such a mess, but every student was successful
(& proud of themselves)!
I haven't been able to find exactly what I needed for differentiation, so I've spent the past couple years slowly creating it. My Module One packet is currently over 300 pages! I've added, deleted, revised materials depending on how my students have responded. Someday soon, I'll be posting these mega units!
In the meantime, here's a sneak peek:
And some action shots:

Practicing the "Say-Ten" Way!
I've had a few questions about what goes in our independent math "center" bags. It's definitely a work in progress as I'm getting to know my students better. I like to switch them up a minimum of once per week. This week, I'm diving into fall and using materials from my Autumn Number Sense Pack:
Please stop back to see what we're up to next week!
Have a fabulous Friday! Jen
