Behavior: Power Statements

Happy Monday!

I woke up to a 2-hour delay! Woohoo!

I spent the majority of my weekend regrouping for my 1st grade Power Hour (Guided Reading) and 3rd grade intervention (new group starts today!).  Here's a glimpse of what I accomplished:

phonics
SO sorry about the glare!

I put together "quick-checks" using a variety of phonics sounds/spellings for my students to practice based on their areas of concern (determined by our latest round of STEP). They can be used for decoding, segmentation, and (most importantly) fun!

I added colorful divider tabs and recording pages so I can track how well my students are doing and what areas we need to keep working on. The font is HUGE on purpose because I have always used similar cards as "exit tickets" for lining up after Power Hour: individual students quickly read their word and then line up - great way to assess and control the chaos :)

I also began making more supplemental supports for the GREEN Leveled Literacy Instruction System - I'm REALLY excited about them. Stay tuned!

Lastly, I have a little friend who's struggling a bit to adjust after the long winter break. He's done very well with a time-out system using visual supports (provided by his fabulous Kindergarten special educator). This week, we are adding a few "power statements" to his collection:

If you know of anyone who will benefit from these positive statements, please click here to download a free set!

I will eventually (summer?) bundle all of our favorite
behavior supports into one collection!

Have a wonderful week!
Jen
