5 for Friday: RAK Edition

Happy Friday!

I'm linking up to share about our week:

Thanks Kacey!

This week, I had a blogpost and project
featured at Ellison Education:

Please click the link above to read about this simple and FUN activity! I'm humbled to be on the inaugural education-blogging team for Ellison Education. It's been an AWESOME experience so far! I'm learning so much and better yet, my students are benefiting from all the hands-on fun!

This week we also brought back RAK!

On Monday, I introduced the RAK project to my 1st grade Power Hour group and my 3rd grade reading intervention group. There's about 21 students total and includes some "big personalities" that may or may not be the obvious choice to spread kindness spontaneously throughout the school ;)

But, no worries, this project empowers them to shine and feel proud of themselves. My hope is that my students will realize they can really make a difference in their world - they are important!

I emailed staff to warn let them know these little red coupons would soon be showing up. Next, I passed out these joy-slips to my students and told them about their "mission."

There's two different types of notes - 1) a specific kind act is shared and 2) a random "You've Been RAK-ed" note.

I start with assigning the specific notes. These missions include holding the door for someone, saying thank you to helpers around the school, picking up trash even if it isn't yours, etc. Students are instructed to take their note, perform the kind deed, and pass it on! Then they report back to me and receive a new note.

The "reports" we've had have been SO heart-warming! Even my notorious "toughies" are all about it!

If they are REALLY on top of it, I will pass out the "You've Been RAK-ed!" note and my student can CHOOSE their act of kindness. That's kind of a big deal and not a task I will grant lightly.

If you would like to have your students be kindness ambassadors around your school, here's a freebie packet to get started!

It's free, easy, and really brightens these cold winter months ♥

I'm also linking up with the fabulous Style Me Bloggers:

This week's theme is "Killing Them With Kindness."
I can't wait to see what every came up with!
Have a fantastic Friday!
