Happy President's Day!
We are enjoying a day off from school today and preparing for a PD day tomorrow...maybe.
Baltimore is getting ready for our first major snowfall:
A snow day with no students?
I'm super excited about the potential of staying home tomorrow...except I'm presenting a Guided Reading PD. If it's canceled, I'm not sure if we'll ever have the time to squeeze it into the PD schedule :(
How 'bout the snow holds off til Wednesday? Thanks!
I was in a very similar situation almost one year ago...please check out this throwback post and grab a readers theater celebrating that special cat!

Seusstastic Readers Theater FREEBIE!
Happy Sunday!
So excited to share this!
Awhile back, I posted this (freebie!) about using Readers Theater with my intervention group.
It was a HUGE success...if you measure success by happy students, fluent reading, and staying on task :)
I have every intention of making more scripts for my students, especially when we are dealing with this:
8-12 inches?
I'm sorry, I know this is not good news for the majority of you. But I'm incredibly psyched about it! I have a MOUND of paperwork to tackle, plus my house is getting scary from lack of TLC. I'm trying hard not to get my hopes up, but if we get a day off I will promise to finish ALL my SpEd paperwork :)
Back to Readers Theater!
The snow will most likely interrupt our Power Hour rotations, plus we have an assembly on Tuesday during reading intervention. My students won't get the adequate amount of time to start and finish a new book, so the Readers Theater activity will be perfect!
Here's a peek at it:
A cute optional header! |
The "abridged" script is 2 pages. It will be printed double-sided on green paper :) |
I added vocabulary picture-text cards to the set, but will most likely not use them with my small groups. I'm really hoping they can blend these words independently (fingers crossed!) |
Please click here to download the entire activity (directions, visual supports, and script). If you haven't already followed the link from the beginning, here's another free set! I've written several of these scripts for my lower-level readers (Guided Reading Levels A-C). Someday soon I'll bundle them all up!
May I ask a favor? I would love to hear from you!
Thank you so much!
Love the green eggs and ham reader. Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteWe are hunkered down and ready for the storm in AA county too. Not excited about shoveling :(
Stay warm!!

Where are you in Ho Co?
DeleteI can't believe we had a snow delay for our PD day - I actually missed having some work time. I have tons of copies to make :(
Thanks for your comment :)
Jen
I have used your Green Eggs and Ham Reader's Theater in my special ed class both last year and this year. You would not believe how much my students loved it and how many times it was read over and over! It spurred some of them to take 2 copies of other Dr. Seuss books and take turns reading to make their own version of Reader's Theater. Thanks so much for sparking a love of reading in my students! Will you be making any more? ( I already have Who Will Help?)
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI have such a different group this year and the Dr. Seuss will be our first readers theater activity for us. I made a bunch last year & hope to bundle them up soon. Any particular theme requests? Most have been holiday. Thanks again for your kind words :) Jen
