This week.
Whew!
So many emotions - obviously heartbreaking, but also so heartwarming when you witness the overwhelming gestures of love pouring out. I hope that's being portrayed outside of our community (i.e.: national media), so everyone gets to see how AWESOME the people in Baltimore are :)
On Monday, I had a somewhat treacherous ride home. Roads were closing without notice and I made some unfortunate choices in "shortcuts." Once I arrived home, I checked my phone and I had students' parents texting me to make sure I made it safely.
Me? I have the privilege of LEAVING and returning to my mostly unaffected city neighborhood. My students' families are in the middle of it, but that's their ♥ - they were checking up on me.
That's just one story of so many :)
Anyway, in the midst of this crazy week, I also had jury duty. And I was picked for a jury! It wrapped up in two days and I'll be able to see my students for a half-day today. Can't wait!
It's Five for Friday and I'm linking up with Kacey:
I have TWO incredible giveaways to share about in preparation for Teacher Appreciation Week:
There's also an exciting giveaway at Ellison Education Blog:
I joined the inaugural Ellison Education Blog Team last fall and it has been SO rewarding. This is from someone who struggles with cutting straight lines and used her Silhouette once (love it, but don't know what to do with it!).
Now I have built up a nice inventory of die-cuts and CAN'T WAIT to experience a back-to-school classroom set-up with my All-Star Superstar Machine. If you have any questions about this awesome machine, like size (it's about the size of a personal laminator) or ease (make 25+ die-cuts in about 3 minutes!), please leave me a comment (and don't forget to enter)!
This week, I also uploaded a new file to my
This is seriously my favorite packet - I just uploaded a phonics activity that I created to support a struggling students. It's 3 pages (2 printables, plus a set of color-coded cards) and was exactly the extra reinforcement needed.
This was the 10th update...
I originally planned 2 per month, but I'm averaging more!
Here's a peek at this growing file:
I have so much more to share,
but I really must step away from my computer.
Have a safe and wonderful weekend! Jen

I'm so glad you made it home safe! How scary! And thanks for sharing the giveaways! I'm off to check them out :)
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing your experiences this week! Everyone talks about community but they don't think about the community of people who support the students in and out of schools. I really appreciated your perspective.

Your story from this week is powerful. You're right, these are the stories the media does not portray. I am happy to know that you remained safe! Thank you for the fabulous teacher giveaways this week!
