It's time for Five for Friday!!
There WAS a full moon this week, right?
It's the ONLY explanation for the week I've experienced ;)
Children and adults all week - school & outside of school =
cray-cray!!
cray-cray!!
1. Look what I found at my local grocery store!
Haha, they look so similar to The 3AM Teacher's egg graphics. What should I use them for??
2. Meet my student...
I ♥ this :)
After our main lesson, my students get to vote on the next activity (usually a reteach content lesson). We record the votes, graph them, & then analyze the data to see what we will be doing (I'm always ready for anything!). Today, wipeboards won (it may have been rigged). We use wipeboards for our dictation practice. I use picture cards that represent a phonics sound-spelling we are working on (see & pick up a freebie copy here!).
Here's the routine we ALWAYS follow with wipeboards:
Here's the routine we ALWAYS follow with wipeboards:
1. One student is assigned to pass out the boards
2, One student is assigned to pass out markers/eraser-cloths
("you get what you get & you don't get upset")
("you get what you get & you don't get upset")
3. We test our markers by writing our names on our boards
& then put the cap back on to await instructions.
& then put the cap back on to await instructions.
I always model these expectations by "thinking aloud" through the above steps, plus writing "Ms. D." on my board. I thought it was so cute that a student tried to copy it with her name! BTW, this is the same student who wanted her name switched to Beyonce a few weeks ago!
3. My week in a nutshell:
This is a picture of a wipe board in our intervention room. This week was Interim Assessment Week Round 4. As a special educator, I provide accommodations for all testing...and the above image is what I've resorted to. The star represents a completed assessment = 60 adminstered assessments. Mostly accomplished in pairs or individually. Students received a prize after every box was filled with a star. My prize is a fun night out Saturday with great friends :)
4. Riddle Me This!
This is a game my students play almost every single day. It's a terrific warm-up for phonics, especially this time of year when we have finished the Open Court sound-spellings and continuing to spiral in review.

I'm still tearing up the track during my morning workouts!
I switched up my routine to include running the track & it's been A LOT of fun! It's a nice change from using cardio machines & will hopefully prepare me better for running outdoors once the weather allows. My legs continue to feel like a separate entity than the rest of my body, but I ♥ it!!!
Thanks for sticking with this long post!
