What I Wore: Confession!

Welcome to What I Wore Wednesday!

I'm linking up with The Pleated Poppy to share a quick confession!

Have you signed up for the Fall Style Me Challenge
The shopping list has been released and the first outfit arrives Sunday night! The shopping list was everything I hoped for...
many items already in my closet and just a few new items to update for the season. There's a rumor that almost 1000 people have joined - I can't wait to see everyone's outfits!

Here's my confession...every Monday, the staff at my school has to wear the school uniform. Our school leader feels strongly that we are showing an united front - team & family. I totally agree with this, except I simply look horrendous in this uniform.

It's a polo top (light blue or pale yellow) and khakis. I have to wear a Youth Boys Large for the top, which is not exactly flattering. The khakis also give me a headache - I've been searching literally for years and have purchased 6+ pairs and still haven't found a pair that looks good. Any suggestions? The typical khakis (Gap, Old Navy, J Crew) get wrinkly and stretch throughout the day. I tried stepping it up with nicer tan pants from Ann Taylor Loft, but they also "grew" and got sloppy after a couple hours. One year I found a super cute pair of Gap corduroy boot-cut pants. I wore them every single Monday and they wore out in the most inconvenient spot :(

So instead of getting to try out Get Your Pretty On's outfits suggestions on Mondays, you can find me trying to hide the fact that I'm wearing a school uniform. Here's what I'm working with:

Please ignore the stance.
I'm not sure what I was thinking!

The above picture shows what I'm required to wear.
Here's some variations I've tried out:

As you can see, I'm really trying!

I welcome any suggestions to jazz up this uniform! Thanks!

I hope you're enjoying the 1st week of October! We've been diving into math and having fun with our math manipulatives and themed learning activities. Here's a glimpse at my

The materials are aligned with what all of our first graders are working on in the general education curriculum. I'm also using them for my math intervention groups - especially the "flip flop" addition facts and number bond math mats. Don't forget to add the mini erasers from Target's Dollar Spot!

So much fun!

Have a fantastic week :)

  1. I wish I had known about the challenge - I could definitely use some help in this department and so I'm really not any help with jazzing up your uniform...sorry!

    1. Thank you! I started joining the challenges last spring because I was wearing the same thing EVERY day and needed some motivation to get out of my rut! It's been a lot of fun :)

  2. I really like how you layered the polo with a feminine sweater and accessorized with the scarf. The 2nd pic is my favorite combination.

    1. Thank you! I appreciate it - I really wasn't sure about the yellow and was using the scarf to tone it down. I only tried this combo once, maybe I'll try it again :)

  3. Your post has really made me chuckle (I love your self-deprecating comments and the one about your stance) but to be honest you have nothing to worry about as I think you have the type of figure that would look good in a paper sack! Me on the other hand these days would look like a failed unfit gym teacher in this get up. You could of course go for an opposite line and wear your worst khakis and a huge sloppy polo and look so bad your head teacher realises their mistake and lets you go back to your normal wardrobe. I have to say in my young days I wore khakis and a tight white top to work one day in the solicitor's office I was temping in and got called in to the office for looking "too provocative" - this was at the time of Jilly Cooper's Riders - a rather racy series with a horsey set - so you could give your principal a heart attack that way instead before school starts and get told to change before the children arrive :)
