5 for Sweet Friday ♥

Happy Friday the 13th!

I'm linking up with Kacey for

We continued to celebrate our kindness theme by spreading RAK (freebie!) throughout the school. Most of our little red notes have been passed from student to teachers... which is sweet, however, I'm really encouraging them to think of peers who they could share with. We're going to stick with it through the month.

My Intervention group LOVED reading this book this week:

I really don't think my students could have loved this story any more! This was our 3rd version of the Old Lady books this school year (we did "fly" in September and "leaves" in October) and they were ALL about it!

It was a bit of a "wild" week with behavior and this book actually began serving as a positive incentive. I'm working with students with autism who thrive on repetition and word play. Since this book fits into both of those categories, it became a "treat" to listen and follow along.

No stickers, no candy...participating in a literary
experience = positive reinforcement ♥

I plan on investing in the entire series, plus some cute graphics to customize materials for my students. I think I love this old lady as much as they do!

We also had a fun week with our themed sensory box:

Water Beads + Table Scatter = AWESOME!

Today is my anniversary! We are celebrating by going to the world's best spin class...no joke. We have fancy plans with friends for tomorrow night, so tonight is all about going to this awesome spin class (think: night club) and then a quick dinner. We don't exchange gifts, because we'd both rather put money towards our next trip to Florida (in 92 days, but who's counting?!?).
Plus he's definitely off the hook after this big year:

Here's a throwback post to read all about my ultimate surprise!

This weekend I'll be glued to my computer finishing up presentation details on "Word-Solving Strategies" in Guided Reading. I'm simultaneously updating my Guided Reading materials at the same time. Stay tuned!

Have a super week! Jen

  1. Now I have to go back and read your throwback post. That looks like a car with a bow on top! I've always seen the Lexus commercials where someone gets a car, but it looks like you got a car for real! Now I can say that it happens to real people. :) Enjoy your spin class. I teach a preschool story hour and they also love the Old Lady books. I sing them when I read them which definitely keeps them engaged. Happy Friday!
    Joya :)
